To make a trendy fashion statement today, a woman can choose to wear a wedge shoe while dressing up or dressing down. You can wear them with skirts, dresses or even a pair of jeans. Ladies wedge shoes are so popular because they are very versatile and also have a moderate heel that is more comfortable to wear. The wedge shoe is a particular type of platform shoe and has been popular since the 1930s. The very first wedge had cellophane straps and did not have a distinct heel. The heel is thick and it is one piece connected with the sole; most other high-heeled shoes have a heel that is separate. The heel height can range from a slight raise to many inches. The popularity of wedge shoes fluctuates and the trend depends on the hundreds designs that are revealed each year.

The creator of the wedge shoe was Salvatore Ferragamo, an Italian designer. In 1935 he created the wedge heel in 1936. In his design, he used wood and cork due to the shortage of leather and rubber. At the time cork was more popular than wood was because it was much lighter in weight and was also very durable and sturdy.

The wedge shoe became popular during World War II because there was a lack in both rubber and leather in the United States; they were needed for the war. The fashion at this time was height and the ladies wedge shoes offered this and they were an easier style heel to walk in.

In the 1970s, the wedge began to look more outrageous with louder colors. The wedge heel shoe was then worn by both men and women, where as earlier it was only for women. In the 1990s, the wedge was back in style again. Wedge sneakers appeared and were seen on many celebrities.

The wedge returned once more in the summer of 2006. The style was cork heels that were wrapped in rope. Straps and ankle wraps were options that secured the shoes to the feet.

Advantages of wedge shoes includes adding height, easier to walk in than other heels, worldly but sophisticated, look good with any length of dress, pants or skirt, very popular style and makes ankles look thinner.

I often get stopped and asked to see the bottom of my shoe. Next if you look at the design itself it's so pretty and really really fun. When I wear these shoes I just feel bouncy. The sole and design of this wedge shoe aren't the only unique and fresh part, the cut out geometric shape is amazing too. It's a small added touch, but it really makes a difference. The weave is really incredible in the heel as well. Lastly, the slingback has a little bow which is just the most adorable thing I've ever seen.

Another great fun style from Betsey is this Mariana. It comes in both black and white and also in yellow and white. A slingback with a patent upper, the little accents make a huge difference on this shoe. Once again look at the sole, how cute is that? Luv American Style, for sure. Perfect for a party dress or a formal dress, these little sweet wedge heels make an impact. My favorite part is the little bow just above the toe. These shoes are irresistible (at least they were for me).

By comparison, a sexy shoe can be flirty, but mostly it needs to be smoldering. A sexy shoe will not only be a higher shoe, it will have class and style to the design that really makes it unique. You can find designers like Michael Kors, Donna Karan and Anne Klein.

What makes this Michael Kors sexy? First of all it's incredibly well made. Look at the patent which shines, even in a picture! It's insane. Next, really look at the color of the red. That red is a very unique shade. Designers create not only designs, they create specific colors. Regular brand shoes usually have generic colors, but fashion designers create their own palettes. Now check out the heel of the shoe. How gorgeous is that shoe. And as you can see, when you're walking in the shoe it looks like a stiletto from behind. That is why designers charge so much for their shoe. One last point about this shoe. The small black patent piping around the edges of the shoe really stand out against the red. With a little peep toe and buckle slingback, this is a magnificently sexy wedge shoe.

My final pair of shoes is a plain, but gorgeous pair of Anne Klein thong sandals. Anne Klein is notorious for making a sexy and classy style of shoe. This pair is is no different. These are incredibly sexy, but not only that they are professional as well. These are so well made and designed, you can wear them to the office with a pair of pants and blazer and look fan-freaking-tastic. The elegant gold buckle just adds to the class. Very comfortable and wickedly sexy.

If you're looking to buy a new pair of shoes, I could give you a hundred reasons to buy the wedge shoe. Instead, I'll give you just a few, in this article. With the amount of love I have for them, I'll find at least a hundred more reasons in the months to come. The wedge shoe is the most comfortable shoe you can buy. It's also the most stylish shoe. Along with style and comfort, as if that isn't enough, the wedge shoe is also very sexy.

I could say it a thousand times and I still couldn't say it enough; the wedge shoe is supremely comfortable. There isn't a heel style that is more comfortable in every style. From low to high, platform to the angled heel, wedge heels will feel terrific. The original designer of the wedge shoe, Salvatore Ferragamo, was already designing Hollywood movie stars' shoes when he decided that he needed to learn the anatomy of the foot in order to build a better shoe. What resulted from this study was the wedge shoes. No other design of shoe was made to be fashionable enough for the red carpet and comfortable enough to be worn by anyone. And certainly no other designer ever made a shoe specifically to form to the foot of the woman in order to allow them the ease of wearing of higher heels. That is what makes the wedge so fundamentally perfect for comfort.

Searching for shoes is always a fun pass time, at least for me, but it's hard to narrow down what style of shoe to wear. There are stilettos, flats, sneakers, pumps, sandals and flip flops, among others. Other than the stiletto and flats, the wedge shoe can fill every need of styles. Yes, there are wedge flip flops. Everyone is familiar with the wedge sandal, but did you know that you can find closed toe wedges, peep toe wedges and even wedge sneakers? They don't even need to be that high to be sexy either. Designers make some incredible shoes with the wedge styles. The thing about wedges is they give the designer so much space to work with. The heel along has tons of space to cut out geometric shapes, add flowers, wrap metal plates, cover with leather and hundreds of other varieties of heels. This means every fashion designer can make the most feminine, most perfect and most sexy shoe.
