Green Wedge Shoes
Keds Women's Dallas Skimmer WedgeThe single biggest problem with green wedge shoes is that there aren't that many outfits that go with them. And there aren't that many styles available! Of course, if you have an outfit and want green wedges, the problem then becomes finding a pair. There just aren't many choices, are there? And wedge shoes are the particular choice of women that want a high heel shoe but not the problems associated with high heels (like wobbling about because you have no support).
There are plenty of reasons to get a pair of green wedges, not the least of which is it's a beautiful color. It's also unusual. Honestly, there aren't a lot of green outfits and even fewer green shoes. But green is a really pretty color, so if you have a green prom dress, or sweater, you want to match it with a great pair of shoes, it's kind of difficult to do when there just aren't a lot of choices; and the few choices you do have aren't easy to walk in. That is one of the points - besides sexiness - to choose a wedge after all.
Quite unexpectedly, while I was writing this post, I found a bunch of different green wedge heels on various websites and put them in a sweet little shopping area up top there. I think I was more stunned that there were more green than silver ones. I always thought green was an unusual color, but at one site I found five pages of them! Of course, not all were stellar (ugh to some of them), but most of them were really hot and some were even sexy.
Green is such a funky color sometimes that it gets overlooked by a lot of shoppers. But what an outfit when you can match a pair of shoes to a small floral print or some stripes. And redheads? Now we have those shoes to match all the greens in our closets (which, for me at least, is way too much).
Wedges offer something that other shoes don't; comfort. They're shaped to fit the foot (which was what the original creator, Ferragamo, had in mind). They're meant to support the arch, heel and toe of a woman's foot. All the height and none of the problems, is how I like to put it. So they're the ultimate choice for prom or bridesmaid dresses - because you're going to be on your feet a long time during those events, and you want something comfortable.
So what are the problems with green shoes? Well pair them with the wrong color and you'll look like a Christmas decoration. And unless that's the look you want to go for, stay away from red and green in darker hues; ie forest and scarlet. Green looks really great with yellow, but it's the shade of green and the shade of yellow that matters. A forest green and pastel yellow look amazing together. Lemon and Kelly? Not so much. Burgundy and forest green? Unless you're dressing up for a Christmas pageant - terrible, terrible idea!
In the end, choose green shoes because they're pretty and unusual, but also be careful about what you pair them with, but choose green wedges because you want comfort and style.
