Ok I’ve written about blue wedge shoes, but today I’m going to talk about navy wedge shoes. Why? Because well a) I love wedge shoes and b) I love navy. I mean I just bought a navy sofa and we painted our east living room wall navy, so I don’t just say I love navy, I mean it. Blue in general is a great color, however, let’s be honest, most blues do not go with much. Jeans and… ok jeans are about it right? I’m being a little facetious, but navy is fantastic because you get all the blue and none of the hassle of the “oh crap these are cute shoes, but they don’t go with this outfit”. Navy wedges go with just about anything, save black. Unless you want to look bruised, I’d leave the little black dress to some spicier colors (like a pair of red wedges, hawt).

So I won’t go into other navy shoes, although I could, because this site is about wedge heels not spike high heels (although I’m tempted to make one of those too). Many navy wedges have the same problem that other wedges have, they’re made to go with casual or semi-casual clothing. Thank you God for Michael Kors, right? The man makes the most fantabulous shoes, many of which are wedges, and are great for evening or semi-formal wear. Other designers do a lot too, but like Michael, suffer from Excessive Wedge Sandal Usage. While I love a good sandal, please designers let’s see some closed toe shoes with wedge heels.

While we love navy and wedges the problem stands with finding navy shoes with a wedge heel and closed toe and aren’t casual. Not that we don’t want the other styles too, right? So, while not impossible, it’s difficult to find some of the rarer navy wedge heels; i.e. dressy, closed toe etc. To that end I’ve put together a bunch of different styles that work well with all different situations. Many web designers put their personal touches on the choices they pick for their sites, but I’ve tried to pick a good representation of different styles and not personal tastes (not that I don’t sneak my personal favorites in there, because, oh yes, I do!).

Lastly, when talking about navy wedges, you have to mention the nautical look. Quite frankly when I think of nautical looks, I think only about wedge heels. I can picture beautiful white wide leg slacks or jeans with a little sailor top and wedge heels. Personally, it’s a favorite style of mine, but maybe I’m biased with my lovely navy fetish? Yesterday I found myself searching for orange wedge shoes online. I know… orange… why? Well, and I hate to admit this, orange is not only my favorite color, it’s also my favorite flavor. I always choose the orange M&Ms and Skittles. I love those little orange flavored chocolates… I seriously just salivated. And I just think orange is not only pretty, it can be glamorous (yes hard to believe) and, of course, it’s a really fun and flirty color. The problem with orange is it just doesn’t go with much. I'll admit I have a problem. I have a thing for shoes. And my favorites are wedge dress shoes. I love wedges and the fancier ones the better. The fact that I love shoes is important. I don't write this blog because I have to, I write it because I love to. And I have a special love for wedge shoes. I've written about how I own over 80 pair and it's not just because they're gorgeous. I mean yes, they are gorgeous, but they're also the perfect shoe for every woman and I'll tell you why. No other shoe gives your more balance and still maintain some height. Why is that a huge factor? Because most women only wear shorter heels for comfort.

Whenever you see a woman in a short heel and a formal dress, it's because she wants to be comfortable. High heels just aren't comfortable for most women. Doing a search on the top 3 shoe sites for the most popular, or best selling, shoes and you'll find fewer than 3 out of the top 100 are high heels. Is it that women don't like high heels? If that were the case, then designers would stop making them. The fact is we love high heels. We love they way they make our legs look. We love the way they make us taller and sexier. No, it's not the way heels look that keeps us from buying them, it's the fact that they're really hard to walk in. No one looks attractive wobbling around in a sexy dress or suit. Wedge shoes are the answer to looking sexy, wearing a high heel and keeping your balance. They have a special type of sole that cradles the whole foot and supports the most important part, the arch. Having wedge dress shoes is perfect because it allows the beauty, height and sexiness of a heel without the balancing problem of a stiletto.

Dress shoes are those hot, sexy styles that can be worn with your prom dress, wedding dress, homecoming or a cocktail party. They're perfect for ay formal occasion and make women feel feminine and pretty. It's frustrating to not be able to wear a high heel when they look so good! Wedges relieve that frustrating. If you know what I mean? Everyone has that pair of shoes they wear over and over because it goes with everything. Mine is a pair of white wedge sandals with a rubber heel. They're so worn out that the inset of the shoe is rubbing out. The funny thing is that I think half of the reasons I choose that shoe is because it matches everything and was so easy to slip on. There aren't a lot of different shoe fabrics. There is the synthetic, leather, cotton and canvas for the upper and even velvet shoes. Suede is one of the rarer used fabrics. It's also very sexy. Of course, if you have an outfit and need a pair of green wedges, the problem becomes finding a pair of green wedge shoes. There aren't many choices are there? And wedge shoes are the particular choice of women that want a high heel shoe but not the problems associated with high heels (like wobbling about because you have no support).

There are plenty of reasons to get a pair of green wedges, not the least of which is it's a beautiful color. It's also unusual. Honestly, there aren't a lot of green outfits and even fewer green shoes. The thing is that green wedges are really pretty! So if you have a green prom dress, or sweater, you want to match it with a great pair of shoes. It's kind of difficult to do when there just aren't a lot of shoes to do so with, and the ones that are there aren't easy to walk in.

Quite unexpectedly, while I was writing this post, I found a bunch of different green wedge shoes on various websites. I think I was more stunned that there were more green than silver ones. I always though green was an unusual color, but at one site I found 5 pages of them! Of course, not all were stellar (ugh to some of them), but most of them were really hot and some were even sexy. Green is such a funky color sometimes that it gets overlooked by a lot of shoppers. But what an outfit when you can match a pair of shoes to a small floral print or some stripes. Outfits always look better when accessories and shoes match.

Wedges offer something that other shoes don't: comfort. They're shaped to fit the foot (which was what the original creator, Ferragamo, had in mind). They're meant to support the arch, heel and toe of a woman's foot. All the height and none of the problems, is how I like to put it. So if you're interested in buying a pair of green shoes, I'd stick with wedges because you can get some height.

So what are the problems with green shoes? Well pair them with the wrong color and you'll look like a Christmas decoration. And unless that's the look you want to go for, you'll want to really see, together, the outfit you're going to pair the shoes with. Green looks really great with yellow, but it's the shade of green and the shade of yellow that matters. A forest green and pastel yellow look amazing together. Lemon and Kelly? Not so much. Red and green? Unless you're dressing up for a Christmas pageant, terrible, terrible idea!

In the end, choose green shoes because they're pretty and unusual, but also be careful about what you pair them with!

I'm surprised by how many times the directors choose black. I assume it's because they only want the focus on the woman's face. But let's be honest for just one second, women look at shoes. We do! And, whether they realize it or not, men notice the shoes too (even if we have to point them out). Heck even in old times women's shoes were important. Black wedges are one of the hottest shoes on the market today. They're sexy, comfortable and they look really great on the foot. They're conventional enough for a professional office and formal enough to wear with most evening dresses. When pairing a pair of black wedges with that perfect little black dress, it's important to distinguish them. A simple, yet elegant, dress needs a shoe with a little oomph. The perfect shoe is a shiny black patent wedge, they have the little bit of zing and are still an elegant style of shoe. They're also super comfortable.

What I've done in this post is put together some really cute shoes that work well all year round (except the boots), but are super terrific in fall, winter and early spring (when the snow and cold still abound). While there are a lot of choices of boots out there, that's a whole other post. Besides it's easy to find a boot to wear in winter, even wedge boots, but it's not easy to find a wedge shoe that works. There are just too many open toe sandal wedges and peep toe wedges out there. And, as I've said many times before, the wedge shoe is particularly gorgeous, comfortable and sexy. No other shoe can function like a wedge.

Designers love to work with wedge shoes. This is evidenced by the number of them coming down the runway. Of course they really love high heels more, but I'm hoping this will change. The problem stems from the belief that wedges belong in a particular category. They're usually wedge sandals or peep toe styles, which makes them useful for only warmer times. Unless you live in a warm climate, you'll be able to wear sandals for about 5 or 6 months a year. Having a pair of shoes which can be warn year round is not just thrifty, its smart.

So why black when there are so many other colors to brighten up the gloom of winter? Well firstly, I don't think winter is very gloomy. There is a lot of gray, sure, but there's also white. The elegance of white and black together is indisputable. It's a natural contrast for every woman that wishes to wear an elegant shoe color, that's also versatile. So black is the perfect contrast is one great reason to showcase only black shoes in one post. The other reason I chose black is because it goes with nearly everything. There is very little black clashes with; navy blue is all that really comes to my mind. It looks better with some colors; white and red to name two, but it also looks good with nearly every other color in your closet. The last reason is that women love black. We do, let's face it. Black is that one pair of shoes that we can always throw on quickly if we're in doubt, or a hurry.

When it comes to winter shoes, there are a lot of choices. Flats, pumps, platforms and boots all abound in a lot of styles, but a pair of black wedge shoes will set you apart, especially a pair of black winter wedge shoes.

The women’s wedge shoe style ranges from casual to sophisticated and vary in many heights, colors and styles. At the time cork was more popular than wood was because it was much lighter in weight and was also very durable and sturdy.

The wedge shoe became popular during World War II because there was a lack in both rubber and leather in the United States; they were needed for the war. The fashion at this time was height and the ladies wedge shoes offered this and they were an easier style heel to walk in.

In the 1970s, the wedge began to look more outrageous with louder colors. The wedge heel shoe was then worn by both men and women, where as earlier it was only for women. In the 1990s, the wedge was back in style again. Wedge sneakers appeared and were seen on many celebrities.

The wedge returned once more in the summer of 2006. The style was cork heels that were wrapped in rope. Straps and ankle wraps were options that secured the shoes to the feet.

Advantages of wedge shoes includes adding height, easier to walk in than other heels, worldly but sophisticated, look good with any length of dress, pants or skirt, very popular style and makes ankles look thinner.

Depending upon the time of year and what look one is trying to achieve, style is one of the most important factors when on the prowl for a pair of red wedge shoes.
