Ok I’ve written about blue wedge shoes, but today I’m going to talk about navy wedge shoes. Why? Because well a) I love wedge shoes and b) I love navy. I mean I just bought a navy sofa and we painted our east living room wall navy, so I don’t just say I love navy, I mean it. Blue in general is a great color, however, let’s be honest, most blues do not go with much. Jeans and… ok jeans are about it right? I’m being a little facetious, but navy is fantastic because you get all the blue and none of the hassle of the “oh crap these are cute shoes, but they don’t go with this outfit”. Navy wedges go with just about anything, save black. Unless you want to look bruised, I’d leave the little black dress to some spicier colors (like a pair of red wedges, hawt).

So I won’t go into other navy shoes, although I could, because this site is about wedge heels not spike high heels (although I’m tempted to make one of those too). Many navy wedges have the same problem that other wedges have, they’re made to go with casual or semi-casual clothing. Thank you God for Michael Kors, right? The man makes the most fantabulous shoes, many of which are wedges, and are great for evening or semi-formal wear. Other designers do a lot too, but like Michael, suffer from Excessive Wedge Sandal Usage. While I love a good sandal, please designers let’s see some closed toe shoes with wedge heels.

While we love navy and wedges the problem stands with finding navy shoes with a wedge heel and closed toe and aren’t casual. Not that we don’t want the other styles too, right? So, while not impossible, it’s difficult to find some of the rarer navy wedge heels; i.e. dressy, closed toe etc. To that end I’ve put together a bunch of different styles that work well with all different situations. Many web designers put their personal touches on the choices they pick for their sites, but I’ve tried to pick a good representation of different styles and not personal tastes (not that I don’t sneak my personal favorites in there, because, oh yes, I do!).

Lastly, when talking about navy wedges, you have to mention the nautical look. Quite frankly when I think of nautical looks, I think only about wedge heels. I can picture beautiful white wide leg slacks or jeans with a little sailor top and wedge heels. Personally, it’s a favorite style of mine, but maybe I’m biased with my lovely navy fetish? If you know what I mean? Everyone has that pair of shoes they wear over and over because it goes with everything. Mine is a pair of white wedge sandals with a rubber heel. They're so worn out that the inset of the shoe is rubbing out. The funny thing is that I think half of the reasons I choose that shoe is because it matches everything and was so easy to slip on. So what am I missing when I have so many beautiful shoes and choose to wear one type? What am I missing when I don't own a pair of suede wedges.

There aren't a lot of different shoe fabrics. There is the synthetic, leather, cotton and canvas for the upper and even velvet shoes. Suede is one of the rarer used fabrics. It's also very sexy. It's actually really hard to find suede wedges, however, which makes that one of the biggest reasons that many women don't own a pair.

Since it's really frustrating to try and find a shoe and have to go to all different places, I've put together a bunch of different types of suede wedges from all over the Internet. I thought that once, long ago. I've since changed my mind. I believe a lot of people have changed their mind about wedge sneakers, judging by the response of Victoria Beckham's outfit when she pitched at the Dodgers game a while back. Wedges, tennis shoe style, can be found in different forms. There are the low wedge styles, fashion wedge sneakers and the keds style, there are even high top wedge sneakers. Low wedges can often include both fashion and ked style wedge shoes, but there are specific types which are for function, and fashion. Wedge sneakers aren't as outlandish as it might sound. In fact, most tennis shoe styles are wedges. Wedges just mean the sole of the shoe fits from the toe to the heel, and as it moves from the ball of the foot it triangulates into a tall or low heel.

Take for example, the Skechers Sassies-Accentuate style of wedge tennis shoe. As you can see by the picture to the left, the shoe looks like a regular tennis shoe, however, it is a wedge style. It isn't a wedge platform tennis shoe, which makes it really perfect for exercise or activities where comfort is important. That looks like a normal tennis shoe style doesn't it? Well it is. Some styles are wedges, others are actually platforms (where the toe is raised equal or almost equal to the heel). So if you're a little leery of buying a pair of tennis shoes with wedge heels.

Fashion wedge tennis shoes are more for wearing to the local mall, shopping or just hanging out. They look fantastic with culottes (yes I know, fashion disaster, but some are really cute!), chinos and capri pants. They're also really great with linen pants. They're not really for heavy exercise activities, but they're quite comfortable for walking (not power walking). They won't look great with many skirts, but wear them with a great denim skirt they'll look wonderful. Another great outfit they look good with is the tennis dress or shorts and a t-shirt.

If you're trying to find a pair of cheap wedge shoes, there are many choices. The cost of wedge style tennis shoes varies by brand and materials, just like regular shoes. You'll find a healthy variety on Internet sites, or even Old Navy. If the cost isn't as important as the design, look or feel of the shoe, than check out wedge tennis shoes at Shoes.com, wedge tennis shoes at Shoesteal.com, amazon.com and Ebay.com. Choosing to wear this style of wedge isn't necessarily choosing an outrageous style. As pointed out above, many tennis shoe styles are, in fact, wedges. These style of shoes are usually much more comfortable than the flatter style of shoes because they have a lot of cushioning on the heel. They also look really good! I can't help but throw that in there!

If I had a million dollars, I'd have a pair of wedge shoes in every color and style possible. At the moment I actually have quite a few pairs, including a number of wedge sneakers. It seems there are a lot of negative thoughts about the wedge sneaker, but they are quite gorgeous. Take Victoria Beckham's, for instance, she wore a pair of them to throw the pitch at the Dodgers game, and I have been getting compliments on mine ever since.

Sneakers in general aren't the most flattering shoes for all ages. While it can be really cute on teenagers, no matter what they wear, the same shoes won't look great on a 40 year old. There are some cute wedge sneakers that can be worn by anyone at any age, as Victoria proved.

The wedge sneaker looks great with jeans, shorts and even some skirts. Jean skirts are the best types to wear with a great wedge sneaker. If you're going to wear a pair of sneakers with a jean skirt, they should be a wedge. Not only does the wedge raise you in height, they'll make your legs look amazing, like if you're wearing stilettos (only more comfortable). It's a great look which I encourage everyone to wear.
