If you're looking to buy a new pair of shoes, I could give you a hundred reasons to buy the wedge shoe. Instead, I'll give you just a few, in this article. With the amount of love I have for them, I'll find at least a hundred more reasons in the months to come. The wedge shoe is the most comfortable shoe you can buy. It's also the most stylish shoe. Along with style and comfort, as if that isn't enough, the wedge shoe is also very sexy.

I could say it a thousand times and I still couldn't say it enough; the wedge shoe is supremely comfortable. There isn't a heel style that is more comfortable in every style. From low to high, platform to the angled heel, wedge heels will feel terrific. The original designer of the wedge shoe, Salvatore Ferragamo, was already designing Hollywood movie stars' shoes when he decided that he needed to learn the anatomy of the foot in order to build a better shoe. What resulted from this study was the wedge shoes. No other design of shoe was made to be fashionable enough for the red carpet and comfortable enough to be worn by anyone. And certainly no other designer ever made a shoe specifically to form to the foot of the woman in order to allow them the ease of wearing of higher heels. That is what makes the wedge so fundamentally perfect for comfort.

Searching for shoes is always a fun pass time, at least for me, but it's hard to narrow down what style of shoe to wear. There are stilettos, flats, sneakers, pumps, sandals and flip flops, among others. Other than the stiletto and flats, the wedge shoe can fill every need of styles. Yes, there are wedge flip flops. Everyone is familiar with the wedge sandal, but did you know that you can find closed toe wedges, peep toe wedges and even wedge sneakers? I have many favorites, but in general, the entire genre fascinates me. One particular style, that I'm in love with, is the woven heeled shoe. I've seen these lovely, what almost looks like straw. F.A.B!

Now let's talk about sexy because the wedge is dead sexy, especially the colorful sets. A pair of sexy red wedge shoes or even an underused color like purple or pink, will look wicked hot. They don't even need to be that high to be sexy either. Designers make some incredible shoes with the wedge styles. The thing about wedges is they give the designer so much space to work with. The heel along has tons of space to cut out geometric shapes, add flowers, wrap metal plates, cover with leather and hundreds of other varieties of heels. This means every fashion designer can make the most feminine, most perfect and most sexy shoe.

These are the qualities that make the wedge heel such a unique and awesome shoe. Comfort for every height of heel, style for every occasion and wild sex appeal.

I'm sure not everyone reading my blog is as fanatic about shoes as I am. This is a great thing, for me, since all the buying and wearing of my shoes, has translated into this blog about wedge shoes. I have other blogs about shoes (one would have to, when one has over 80 pairs). This particular type of shoe needs its own blog because it's such an amazing style. Besides looking really great on your foot, they are available in every size, color and design. They also have a wide range of prices and fashion designers that design based on the style. As if those wonderful qualities weren't enough, wedge shoes are also the most comfortable low or high heel available on the market. With these qualities in mind, I know present you with 10 wedge shoes you need to own:

1. Wedge sandals have always been a favorite of designers. Stilettos are often hard to walk in, especially when there is little holding the foot inside the shoe. However, a wedge shoe offers an incredible support system and allows for a more creative design because the heel has so much space. As sandals usually have very little upper areas, having a larger “canvas' on the heel gives designers a bigger area to add a little styling to the shoe.
2. Wedge platform shoes are often thought to be more of a casual or clubbing type of shoe. There are loads of different designs of platform wedges, including ones that can be worn to formal occasions. While the latter styles may be harder to find, they exist. So, why would anyone go to the trouble of looking for a platform shoe? It just happens that platforms are much easier to walk in, but still give the same height. If you have a difficult time with more angular shaped wedge shoes, you'll find a small or equal platform will make it much easier
3. Most wedge boots aren't as attractive as high heel boots, but there are newer designs coming out every day which can rival or surpass the basic high heel. Comfy and gorgeous, your feet will feel and look amazing with just about any outfit, including pencil skirts and business suits. Of course you'll want to avoid ankle boots with most outfits, but knee high wedge boots will be ideal.
4. Every woman needs a basic pair of black wedge shoes. While we all have lots of black shoes in our closet, the wedge is distinctive and sexy. I recommend a pair by Michael Kors. He has a unique sense of style for wedges. One designer that makes black look amazing is Anne Klein.
5. Along with black, you need a pair of red wedge shoes (bet you thought I was going to say white). Red is one of the most glorious colors around. Red shoes make you feel sexy, seductive and powerful. Put them on with a formal dress, jeans or even a hot, flirty skirt.
6. Sets of colorful wedge shoes such as yellow, purple and blue. I recommend at least a few colors in your closet just to keep it fresh. Doesn't it get boring wearing the same old black, tan, white etc? It's time to burst out of your shell and throw some color into your life. Trust me, you won't regret it. You'll be surprised by how many things you can wear with colorful shoes.
7. Wedge sneakers are one of those styles of shoe that people either love or hate. It's no surprise that some women have a hard time wearing a pair of high shoes; and since we wear sneakers for comfort, it behooves us to buy lower heels. Well you can find wedge sneakers in a lower heel just perfect for cushioning the foot while walking or jogging. You can also find a really high pair of them to wear shopping or hanging out.
8. The comfy wedge shoe. An everyday low shoe that you can wear with just about anything. Pick a neutral color that works for both fall and summer, like beige, and add it to your wardrobe. That one pair of comfortable shoes will look fantastic year round and it makes finding what to wear so much easier!
9. Brown wedge shoes are so underestimated in a woman's closet. Finding a really great pair of brown shoes, more of a chocolate shade, is the perfect way to spice up a mundane basic black wardrobe. Try not to pair them with black, instead try them with pinks, reds and beige. You'll look fantastic. Count on it.
10. 1. The ultimate pair of women's wedge shoes is the designer shoe. Splurge on a really expensive pair of shoes that you can feel amazing when you put them on. Don't go too overboard if you're on a strict budget, but whatever your budget allows try and spend it on a quality pair of shoes. Just having a great pair of shoes, like that, will make you feel like a million dollars.

I thought that once, long ago. I've since changed my mind. I believe a lot of people have changed their mind about wedge sneakers, judging by the response of Victoria Beckham's outfit when she pitched at the Dodgers game a while back. In fact that whole outfit is adorable. Actually, she is just adorable. She is also responsible for changing my mind on wedge tennis shoes.

When I blog about wedge shoes, I have a tendency to focus on my favorites, the platform or funky styles. I often forget there are other styles of wedges that people wear. It seems many people are interested in the tennis shoe type of wedges, but in order to do that, I have to write about the important points, where to find them and what types are available. I can always go with my own experiences with wedge tennis shoes, but that is only part of the information people need to find the right shoes. It's important to know what types are available, how much they cost, where to find them and what are the pros and cons of wearing a pair of tennis shoe wedges.

Wedges, tennis shoe style, can be found in different forms. There are the low wedge styles, fashion wedge sneakers and the keds style, there are even high top wedge sneakers. Low wedges can often include both fashion and ked style wedge shoes, but there are specific types which are for function, and fashion. Wedge sneakers aren't as outlandish as it might sound. In fact, most tennis shoe styles are wedges. Wedges just mean the sole of the shoe fits from the toe to the heel, and as it moves from the ball of the foot it triangulates into a tall or low heel.

Take for example, the Skechers Sassies-Accentuate style of wedge tennis shoe. As you can see by the picture to the left, the shoe looks like a regular tennis shoe, however, it is a wedge style. It isn't a wedge platform tennis shoe, which makes it really perfect for exercise or activities where comfort is important. That looks like a normal tennis shoe style doesn't it? Well it is. Some styles are wedges, others are actually platforms (where the toe is raised equal or almost equal to the heel). So if you're a little leery of buying a pair of tennis shoes with wedge heels.

Fashion wedge tennis shoes are more for wearing to the local mall, shopping or just hanging out. They look fantastic with culottes (yes I know, fashion disaster, but some are really cute!), chinos and capri pants. They're also really great with linen pants. They're not really for heavy exercise activities, but they're quite comfortable for walking (not power walking). They won't look great with many skirts, but wear them with a great denim skirt they'll look wonderful. Another great outfit they look good with is the tennis dress or shorts and a t-shirt.

If you're trying to find a pair of cheap wedge shoes, there are many choices. The cost of wedge style tennis shoes varies by brand and materials, just like regular shoes. You'll find a healthy variety on Internet sites, or even Old Navy. If the cost isn't as important as the design, look or feel of the shoe, than check out wedge tennis shoes at Shoes.com, wedge tennis shoes at Shoesteal.com, amazon.com and Ebay.com. I've put some pictures of what's available on each of those sites below. There are hundreds of different styles at those sites, which means you'll get a better idea of what types you can wear.

Choosing to wear this style of wedge isn't necessarily choosing an outrageous style. As pointed out above, many tennis shoe styles are, in fact, wedges. These style of shoes are usually much more comfortable than the flatter style of shoes because they have a lot of cushioning on the heel. They also look really good! I can't help but throw that in there!

I would be lying of I said I was a big fan of yellow. However, I can't explain why I just bought two pair of shoes.. or maybe I can. A friend of mine has noticed my singular obsession with this blog about wedge shoes, and asked what color I was thinking about writing next (she had just read my pink wedges post). I told her I was thinking about orange, since it's one of my favorites. She, in turn, said I should try yellow wedge shoes. At this point I actually felt my nose wrinkle and a big sigh of “blah” coming out of my mouth. It's not that I hate yellow, it's just that, until today, it was one of my least favorite colors (along with fluorescent green and anything in the “tie dye” genre). But, since I love her, and she generally has exquisite tastes, I decided to find some styles that might appeal to my readers. Thus ending my long streak of hating yellow, and my vow to not buy anymore shoes for this month. =(

I started my shopping at my favorite spot, shoes.com. While there wasn't a huge selection, the ones I did find blew my mind away. I got so consumed with the color that I ventured onto all my other haunts. Shoesteal.com, Amazon.com and EBay. I'm going to show a few pictures of each shoe (I won't tell you which ones I bought until the end of the post ). If you can pass up any of these shoes, you've got more willpower than me!

I've completely done a 180 on yellow shoes, and in particular yellow wedge shoes. If you guessed the Daniblacks and Betsey Johnson Montana, as the shoes I bought, you'd be correct. I'm not sure how anyone could resist either of those shoes. The little flowers embroidered into the heel of the Daniblack's are so adorable. I can't wait til they arrive in my mailbox!

There is such a thing as cheap shoes that look fantastic. Cheap doesn't mean tacky or poorly made. Hundreds of shoes are available everywhere at low prices and, believe it or not, you can even find designer shoes cheaper. Cheap wedge shoes are even easier to find as many of them are made of canvas instead of leather. That doesn't mean that leather wedge shoes can't be found cheaply either.

Some of the most gorgeous shoes on the planet are wedge shoes. Finding cheap wedge shoes sounds harder than it really is, at least good cheap wedge shoes. There seems to be a big misconception about the wedge and I blame sites like about.com which tout the wedge as only a casual shoe, not fit for formal wear. They're wrong. In fact they're so wrong, it's rather laughable. Sure many of the styles of wedge shoe are casual, but so are many flats and people still wear those quite often to a wedding. Wedge shoes are nothing but a stiletto with support. It just happens that many of them have a cork wedge or are platform style. However, new designers, and the old ones too, are coming out with some fantastic looking wedges that can be worn for casual, formal or even ball gowns. It all comes down to the shoe itself. Many of the styles are even perfect for office wear, including the cork wedge heels!

Let's take this pair of Emilio Pucci black wedge patent heels. They're obviously gorgeous formal shoes. I mean you can wear them with jeans (and personally I'd wear them with anything), but they're more suited for a power suit or a little cocktail dress. Can't you seee these little babies in a little pink prom dress? Yes, I know they don't fall under the “cheap” category, but I'm making a point (and part of that point is to look at these shoes while I type this article). The point is that wedges are anything the designer creates them to be. If you're looking for formal cheap wedge shoes, you may have to hunt around a little bit harder, but they exist.

Here are two perfect examples of cheap wedge shoes for formal wear: Risque by Rampage at a mere $30.99 and Victor by Franco Sarto at $43.99. Both shoes are perfect for a cocktail dress or even a formal ball gown. The Sartos come in black as well, and a funky sort of orange color. There are hundreds of other examples, it's just a matter of finding the perfect pair.

Amazon.com is one of my favorite shops. They have designers, merchants and shoes from all over the world that post their merchandise on the website. This means you get a visual idea of the price of multiple merchants with the same shoe. It also means a huge discount, because they often sell off their remaining stock at much cheaper prices.
2) Ebay.com maybe you've been turned off by Ebay in the past, but it's a really great resource for cheap wedges. You can find cheap wedge sandals and formal wedges, designer wedge shoes and everything under the sun on that site. You also get first hand knowledge of how well the merchant does with its customers. Imagine being able to walk into say Macy's and at the door you see how many stars customers give them, how the products are etc. You see the benefits now?
3) Womens Shoes at ShoeSteal.com Shoesteal.com has a humongous stock of shoes and (as shown above) some lovely wedges at really cheap prices. The more limited the stock, the better deal you get. There is a pair of $11 Rampage shoes there at the moment. I'm not featuring them because there is only one size left. But seriously $11 shoes? They say steal and they mean it!

There isn't anything like shopping on the Internet. I do it daily, much to my husband's chagrin. This isn't the last you've heard of cheap wedges on this blog. I'll be keeping a lookout.
