I'll admit I have a problem. I have a thing for shoes. And my favorites are wedge dress shoes. I love wedges and the fancier ones the better. The fact that I love shoes is important. I don't write this blog because I have to, I write it because I love to. And I have a special love for wedge shoes. I've written about how I own over 80 pair and it's not just because they're gorgeous. I mean yes, they are gorgeous, but they're also the perfect shoe for every woman and I'll tell you why. No other shoe gives your more balance and still maintain some height. Why is that a huge factor? Because most women only wear shorter heels for comfort.

Whenever you see a woman in a short heel and a formal dress, it's because she wants to be comfortable. High heels just aren't comfortable for most women. Doing a search on the top 3 shoe sites for the most popular, or best selling, shoes and you'll find fewer than 3 out of the top 100 are high heels. Is it that women don't like high heels? If that were the case, then designers would stop making them. The fact is we love high heels. We love they way they make our legs look. We love the way they make us taller and sexier. No, it's not the way heels look that keeps us from buying them, it's the fact that they're really hard to walk in. No one looks attractive wobbling around in a sexy dress or suit. Wedge shoes are the answer to looking sexy, wearing a high heel and keeping your balance. They have a special type of sole that cradles the whole foot and supports the most important part, the arch. Having wedge dress shoes is perfect because it allows the beauty, height and sexiness of a heel without the balancing problem of a stiletto.

Dress shoes are those hot, sexy styles that can be worn with your prom dress, wedding dress, homecoming or a cocktail party. They're perfect for ay formal occasion and make women feel feminine and pretty. It's frustrating to not be able to wear a high heel when they look so good! Wedges relieve that frustrating. While they may not be as easy to walk in as a flat, they are 100 times easier to walk in than a stiletto. And since there are platform styles as well, the options to wear wedge dress shoes is even easier.

When you're looking for a dress shoe the sky is the limit. There aren't any real rules to what you need to wear. Some women prefer flats and some prefer a 6 inch heel, both can look great. It's just opinion that which makes one woman choose a high heel and another choose a flat. And even dress wedges come in lower heels. So while high heels are a great option for a formal dress, they're not the only option.

So I'm off to buying a pair of white wedge shoes, and I started to remember the old rule about when you can wear white shoes. Of course Americans use the term Memorial Day and Labor Day, as in not until after Memorial day and never after Labor Day, or some such silly rule. Rules, at least the silly ones, are meant to be broken. White shoes, these days, can be worn whenever you want, even in winter. The problem is that not a lot of shoes are available in winter styles and are a bright white. If you look hard enough, you can find several styles. My personal favorite white wedge shoe is the sandal.

Now why do I choose white when you can only wear it a a few months of the year? Because, when you do wear it, it brightens up an entire outfit. Think about how gorgeous white and black look together. I love wearing the combination of those styles in late summer and fall. I used to have this really fantastic black and white dress with a black patent belt (shhh it was the early 90s!), and this fantastic pair of white wedge pumps. That outfit got so many compliments it was crazy. Now, if you want a really great white wedge, you can choose a full on white or you can find a mix of white with other colors.

They look taller than they feel. The smallish platform on the toe makes them a breeze to walk in. The color is this lovely chocolate (true chocolate, not milk chocolate) color that looks amazing.

What makes these shoes specifically so lovely is the matching heel color. Wedges often have a wood heel that shows, making the shoe a little on the casual side. This shoe, with its covered heel, is gorgeous with suits and dresses alike. Its the yum.

Heel size: 3 3/4 (but the platform is 3/4 too so it makes the heel a doable 3"). The peep toe is really small so you don't have to polish all your toes if you don't want to. haha!

I mostly just love the patent look though, especially next to the white. Fabuloso.

Someone is bound to look at these shoes and think "borrrrring" when comparing with my other style choices, but everyone needs one good pair of casual white wedge shoes in their closet. Why? Because I said so. No really, because you'll wear them to death.

White goes with everything, and a good pair of white wedge shoes goes with more than everything. If you look at these shoes, can't you see wearing them with a formal outfit to a wedding and just as easily throw them on with a pair of shorts and a t-shirt? That's the point of owning a basic white wedge sandal. And a well made shoe that you wear all the time is a bargain.

Michael Kors shoes are a dream to wear. Comfortable, light, pretty and cushiony, Ferragamo would be proud (you know, the guy that invented the wedge).

The three inch heel is a little high, but still comfortable for all occasions. The ankle strap fits easily around the ankle and isn't uncomfortable like some others I've worn. All in all, a great shoe for the spring and summer (and quite possibly fall =)).

While you need a good basic white wedge sandal, you also need a slip on sandal. These particular styles won't go perfectly with the formal dresses, but they are so comfy and easy to slip on and off, they tend to get worn out the fastest in my closet. It comes with being lazy about putting shoes on.

Sofft makes a lovely style of sandal and I'm lovin every inch of the design. (I know it's corny, but there is the most gorgeous flower pattern on this shoe's sole which I pretty much bought the whole shoe because of). If you're looking for great slip on sandal, this one will do the trick nicely. It's super comfy and doesn't have that icky toe thing that happens when you wear thong sandals.
