Wedge Shoes – The Many Styles

When we think about wedge shoes the most common style comes to mind, the classic wedge heeled dress shoe. What some fail to realize is that there are a lot more options out there then just this one wedge heel style. New concepts on this old favorite are being introduced on store shelves each year and it is spicing things up.

Wedge sandals for example, took the fashion scene by storm only a few years ago. We still see the Espadrille style wedge paired with flowered dresses or jean shorts in the Summer even now. The cork wedge has also became a popular material for these sandals. They're durable and light on the feet making them the perfect warm weather accessory.

If one absolutely must go with a less casual style shoe the limits are nearly endless. T-strap wedges work great with sleek little dresses you would wear for a night on the town while peep-toe wedges would be more suited for an elegant evening gown for a dinner out with your husband or a charity ball.

Slingback and buckle wedges are more suited for the office and pair well with pant suits and other office attire. Wedge shoes work perfect in this setting because while they look stylish and professional they are also comfortable and won't stress the feet as much as pointed heels might.

The patent wedge and pointy-toe wedge are great for religious style services since they tend to favor the more traditional look of women's dress style shoes. These are the more conservative of the wedge shoes.

Mary Jane style wedges are fairly common among young adults and children since they mimic the classic Mary Jane style shoes and pair very well with leggings and fall colors. Mary Jane wedges also look great with a pair of jeans and a cozy sweater.

In Spring and Summer, styles like the crisscross wedge which are made of suede are generally the most common and come in a variety of bright and vibrant colors. Some can also be found with dazzling rhinestones and glitter to make them fun for the sunny weather. Common places to see this style worn are the beach and at the park.

Finally, when Fall and Winter arrive and something with a little more coverage is needed you can always find a wide selection of wedge boots in the stores. Common colors are black wedge shoes or brown wedge shoes, and these look absolutely amazing with heavier skirts and turtle necks. They can also be paired with a fuzzy sweater and skinny jeans for a more casual look.

All of these different styles and names seem a bit overwhelming at first but the decision as to what would best fit your needs is fairly simple if you go with what you feel looks best. There is no rule stating a slingback wedge must be worn in the office so go bold and make a statement about who you are. Rely on friends for suggestions as well and just have fun shopping.
