Blue Wedges for Vintage Outfits and More

Katy Perry sporting the vintage wedge look to perfection
When I think of blue wedges, I think of pin up girls, sailor hats and flouncy skirts with blue and white polka dots. I am a big fan of vintage clothing. I've even written articles on vintage dresses. There is something beautiful about the outfits of the 40s, 50s and 60s. I bet you're picturing them now; little white shorts with blue sailor tops and high heel blue wedge heels!
A great pair of blue wedge shoes will really look fantastic with the right outfit, or heck, the wrong outfit for that matter. If there is such a thing as wrong. I love vintage looks, especially those from the 50s. The pin up gals, like Bettie Page, were superbly glamorous with their Peter Pan collars and tight halter dresses. Right now vintage is in, and I couldn't be happier. Katy Perry and Dita Von Teese have made some incredible inroads with bringing back the fashions of pin up gals. And part of that whole fashion trend is the wedge. Just about any wedge style will make a vintage outfit come together.
Since the wedge shoes were invented in the 30s, they've made a splash. Whether paired with a pin up style dress, as written above, or worn with shorts, the wedge shoe is lovely. In fact, a pair of blue wedges look great with swimsuits and shorts. The pin up gals modeled that idea, and it's still popular today.
Steve Madden Women's Fauntain Ornamented Wedge There are at least twenty or thirty shades of blue wedge shoes and each can play an important role in the wardrobe. If you're looking for a shade of blue that functions with many different types of clothing, choose navy wedge heels. Navy is a gorgeous color and looks spectacular with tan, white and red; which are the cornerstone of colors for nautical or vintage looks. But then there's royal blue which is also perfection.
Polkadorable! Omg I'm in love. These scream vintage and adorable!
One of my favorite outfits is the blue and white striped sweater, or blouse, with a pair of white or khaki pants worn with a wedge sandal in navy blue. White is probably the ultimate contrast color with navy, which makes this combination really hot. It was really popular years ago, 80s or 90s I think, and I'm not sure how things like leggings, skinny jeans and vests are coming back (ew), and not styles that were really cute, like the sailor outfits (better known as nautical). Maybe I'm too much of a soccer mom? Is it just me that finds those combination unbelievably cute?

Another gorgeous pair of blue wedge shoes with a sweet little bow. Quuute!
I may not be in my 20s, but I can sure appreciate Katy Perry's style choices. And obviously the world agrees with me, because her style is almost as popular as her music. I love the cover of her album, especially the big hats. I really hope she's bringing back the whole 50's rockabilly styling.
