Looking for a wedge shoe and not sure what to buy? I've got some answers and choices to narrow down your decision.

It may be difficult to choose from a black, white, red or gold shoe. Even more difficult: finding a wedge shoe that fits perfectly. The problem is that most wedges used to be espadrilles or casual shoes, but all that changed with the web.

The Internet blew the door wide open to choices in shoes. Where before women had limited choices in terms of shopping, today it's unlimited. At the push of a button you can find shoes in any country, design, cut, color or fabric you want. Of course, you can usually find a great pair of shoes at your local department stores, but when you want a wedge shoe, there are a lot of limitations to shopping at local stores. Their selection of styles is minimal for one thing; you can't check out the competition easily for another.

The bottom line is when you're looking for wedge shoes, you need variety because so many styles are made for casual wear, and a wedge has so many good qualities, you want at least one for those fancy occasions.

A wedge supports the whole foot, that means more balance and less wobble. Formal occasions usually involve dancing or standing around (hello weddings), and it's really important to be able to look fabulous while doing all that dancing and standing. Mission accomplished with wedges.

Black Wedge Shoes Go With Nearly Everything

If you're looking for shoes that will go with everything, you'll want to take a peek at some black wedge shoes. There are hundreds of styles of wedges on the market. Finding some that really sparkle for a formal event, or are just comfortable, for that day out shopping, is the trick.

Why Choose a Black Wedge Shoe?

Let's face it, we have some staples in our closets. Jeans, of course. That perfect skirt that goes with everything and makes us feel slim and awesome. The basic purse that goes everywhere. And at least one pair of black shoes in every style from evening to pump, to high heel. What I think is special about a black wedge shoe is that it can double as both a dress shoe and a casual shoe, if the right style is picked out.

Black in general is such a basic color that the only no-no is blue. (black and blue = bruise). It's not ideal with purples either, but a mix of black and lavender works.

The perfect black wedge shoe goes well in both winter and summer. When it comes to black shoes, you really can't go wrong.

White Wedge Shoes Are Perfect for Summer and Spring

So while black shoes go with nearly everything, white wedges go with everything. In that case why buy black at all? Well, for one thing white is not the best color for every season. While social norms are changing, and white is becoming more common during the fall, it still is a good idea to stick with off whites for winter.(unless you're getting married). There are exceptions, like white wedge boots.

Why choose a White Wedge Shoe?

I look at my closet and almost always I go for my white shoes.(I'll reference those white wedge sandals again here and say they are so easy to wear). I pick white because it goes with everything and it's bright. Of course there are other bright colors, red, orange etc, but how many of those can be worn with anything in your closet? With a pair of white wedge sandals, you can feel a little lighter, brighter.

What works best? Having both a black and white pair of shoes.
